Nintendo Switch: NVIDIA CEO Admits Hybrid Console Won't Feature AI But Players Will Be 'Blown Away'
JulianneJanuary is here and it means that there is good news for Nintendo fans as the Japanese gaming company will soon held its private event to fully unveil Nintendo Switch to the World. But before that, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang spoke at the CES 2017 about its collaboration with the Japanese company and did reveal big news of what the hybrid gaming console can do.
In an interview with VentureBeat, Huang covered wide arrays of topics at CES 2017 from self-driving cars, new Shield TV and the prospect of NVIDIA becoming more interested in the notion of AI. NVIDIA CEO did as well talked about its co-op with Nintendo and where it fits in with the company's wide ecosystem.
The publication asked if there is some way the hybrid console fits in with the Shield TV ecosystem. Huang then replied saying, "Nintendo Switch is a gaming console. It's very Nintendo and the whole experience will be very Nintendo."
Huang added that the beauty, craft and philosophy are myopic. Also, the company is singularly focused on making sure that the gaming experience is amazing and safe for young people.
NVIDIA CEO further explained that when gamers see the Nintendo Switch, Huang believes that players will be blown away with it. Huang also admits that AI will not be a part of the hybrid gaming console and is not sure of what future plans Nintendo is holding up.
Meanwhile, Gamespot reports that it was previously announced that Switch will run on NVIDIA technology and claimed that the gaming console will feature 1teraflop of performance. Thus, making it a less powerful gaming console than other brands in the market such as PS4 and Xbox One.
The report further stated that Nintendo Switch will be using the NVIDIA Maxwell graphics card, however there are no official reports of what the said gaming console would really be featuring.
However, Nintendo will announce the Nintendo Switch at the company's briefing this week starting on January 12, while a presentation on games will be held on the following day.
