iPhone 8 News & Specs: ‘The Best Is Yet To Come,’ Says Tim Cook; Could Feature All-Glass Design, Wireless Charging, According To Analysts
Athena DeeApple is expected to come up with a device that will create a bigger impact in today's smartphone industry. According to multiple news sources, this device will be launched toward the end of 2017.
Trusted Reviews has stated that the sales of Apple's latest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7 series, has declining sales. This information remains unconfirmed to date since the company has not yet released their sales figures.
CEO Tim Cook, meanwhile, has remained optimistic. "iPhone set the standard for mobile computing in its first decade and we are just getting started," he said in a statement. "The best is yet to come." This press release was sent out on the iPhone range's 10th year anniversary - which was celebrated on January 9.
Since the smartphone was launched, it has become "an essential part" of consumers' daily lives. The iPhone has redefined how consumers work, entertain, and communicate with one another. Philip Schiller, the Senior Vice President of Apple's Worldwide Marketing, added in the statement that the iPhone has developed into a "gold standard by which all other smartphones are judged."
Neither Cook nor Schiller gave away any specific detail about the iPhone 8. However, Ming-Chi Kuo, a notable industry analyst at KGI Securities, has not kept mum about the features the upcoming device could come out with. According to Kuo, the iPhone 8 will feature an "all-glass design."
Another analyst who works for Barclays expects the upcoming iPhone flagship to feature wireless charging - making the iPhone 8 the first ever iPhone model to showcase such feature. It has also been previously reported that Apple will upgrade the smartphone's display with OLED screen technology.
Apple's iPhone series has clearly come a long way. The late Steve Jobs, former CEO of the Cupertino-based tech company, launched the product in 2007 as three-in-one. He described it as "a widescreen iPod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough Internet communications device."
