Nintendo Switch Updates: Most Major Retailers Have Already Stopped Accepting Pre-Orders; Stores Cannot Keep Up With Public Demand For Console

The Nintendo Switch was just recently officially announced through a live pre-order event. Unfortunately for those who want to get a unit of their own, the aforementioned console is now reportedly difficult to track down.

As Cinema Blend has pointed out, most of today's biggest retailers have already stopped accepting pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch. It is worth noting, however, that the console is still available in some - if gamers are only willing to spend a bit more.

The Nintendo Switch console's basic system can be bought for $299.99 with two differently colored options for its Joy-Con controllers. Gamers can choose either the neon or gray for the said controllers, but they might not be able to do so at the time of the launch.

Prior to the Nintendo Switch's official reveal, the console was reported to cost around $250. This price initially gave gamers a cause to worry about whether or not it could succeed in the market with a price that is similar to that of the PS4 and the Xbox One. When the console was launched, though, it was priced more than that and with some very costly accessories to boot.

Still, at a price of $299.99 - which can be rounded off to $300 - the Nintendo Switch is already sold out in Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. Forbes has reported that retailers just cannot keep up with the current public demand for the said console. Either that, or Nintendo was overwhelmed and had not produced enough units for the first wave. Nintendo can also be purposely restricting its supply in order to solidify hype - much like what it reportedly did for the mini NES Classic Edition.

However, this does not mean that the Switch will remain sold out until its launch on March 3rd. Its "sold out" status only indicates that the stores' first batch of Switch devices have already been purchased. That said, gamers, who were not able to pre-order one, will have to wait a bit longer.
