"Splatoon," Nintendo's third-person shooter video game, was released by the company for the Wii U in 2015. The game was positively received, and Nintendo has recently revealed that the game's sequel, "Splatoon 2," will soon be released sometime in 2017.

According to Siliconera, "Splatoon 2" is set two years after the first game. During Treehouse's live stream, The Reef, a map in "Splatoon 2," was showcased along with the "Splat Dualies, Splattershot, Splat Roller, and Splat Charger."

Splat Dualies are a new type of weapon that will debut in "Splatoon 2." With the Splat Dualies equipped, players will see 2 reticles on-screen which spread their shots. When jumping and shooting, characters will perform a dodge roll. Players can also slide while pressing "B" when shooting.

At the Treehouse live stream, the Jet Pack special was also shown, and it lets players fly for short periods of time while also "firing blobs of ink down on people in the field." Once the timer ends, players once again land where they took off.

The live stream revealed that formula weapons can be altered. With the Splat Charger, players can hold a charge by pressing the "ZL" trigger. Doing so lets players move and use the shot as needed. The Splat Charger also has a Hyper Presser special that can send ink "toward enemies, even passing through walls."

Meanwhile, the Splat Roller has been revamped with two different swings. When you swing on the ground, a horizontal line of paint is sent out. When players jump and swing, it results in a vertical line of paint. The Splat Roller's special as shown in the stream is a Super Landing, which lets players do a "Super Jump to an ally, trigger the special in the air," and "ground pound with a wave of ink."

The Splattershot was similar to the one in "Splatoon" because it also had continuous fire. However, in "Splatoon 2" the Splattershot has a new Multi-Missile special that sends four homing missiles towards its target.

It was also revealed that a new hub area will be accessible in "Splatoon 2." The Inkopolis Square has replaced the Inkopolis Plaza. Inkopolis Plaza has two subway stations, and new stores will be available in the hub. The stream teased that some returning characters could also appear in the area.

In a separate report, Polygon announced that "Splatoon 2" will be released sometime this summer. Interested gamers can also purchase the Nintendo Switch on March 3, 2017 for $299. The company's latest console is also now available for pre-order on Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart.
