‘Scream Queens’ Season 3: Fox Considers Renewal But Needs Time To Decide; More Factors To Be Considered Too
Caitlin MooreFox has not given a nod to the renewal of "Scream Queens" for a third season but as it seems, the network may still give it a green light in the near future. In the recent Television Critics Association conference held on Jan. 11, Fox Entertainment President David Madden and Gary Newman revealed that they are still considering a Season 3 of the comedy horror TV show. Though nothing has been finalized yet, hopes are high that it will be renewed this year given the close ties of Series Creator Ryan Murphy with Fox.
As per a report by Variety, Madden and Newman are happy with how "Scream Queens" connected to the viewers. That said, a renewal remains in the talks for now. However, Fox may need a few more months to decide on what's best for the network and the show.
It can be recalled that Fox dropped the Season 2 renewal at TCA 2016 held in January last year as pointed out by Deadline. However, Madden revealed that the network may reveal the final decision on Season 3 renewal in May. He also explained that though the ratings of Season 2 did not end with huge numbers, he believes that it does not reflect the whole of the show.
"The ratings don't tell the whole story; because it's such a young audience, you can't really even see the full picture even in L+3," Madden said. He then revealed that the network appreciated the impact of "Scream Queens" on younger audience that is actually hard to reach. But he also clarified that the needs of the network is another factor that will play a part in their decision.
Meanwhile, the same report by Variety claimed that Murphy's relationship with Fox could pave the way for a Season 3 renewal. He is the man behind highly rated shows such as "American Horror Story," "American Crime Story" and the soon to be released anthology "Feud."
