'The Vampire Diaries' Season 9: Show May Get Renewed & Broadcasted On Different Channel After Season 8 Ratings!
Niyati S.In the trailer for "Vampire Diaries" Season 8, the phrase "final season" was mentioned. However, it turns out, the popular series may get renewed for a Season 9 broadcast on a completely different channel. CW, the original broadcasting channel, already has canned the "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 Episode 8 was broadcasted last Friday and received impeccable ratings on The CW. The mid-season premiere episode received high ratings, as did its mid-season finale. Amidst such ratings, reviews and the actual legacy of the show, "The Vampire Diaries" may be produced and broadcasted by another network. There might be a "The Vampire Diaries" Season 9, after all!
However, the executive producer, Julie Plec is not terribly excited about the prospect of continuing the franchise just to add more seasons to the show. She has written the last episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 completely and says that it contains things which all the die-hard fans of "The Vampire Diaries" series will love immensely. While talking to Nerdist, the executive said that she attempted to resolve all the open ended or unresolved aspects of the show in the supposedly final episode of the long-running series.
"The content of it has definitely had to shift as a result of Nina Dobrev leaving the show and the disintegration of the Other Side as a story concept. When we got rid of those two things, Kevin's and my original pitch definitely had to adapt to the new world that we were working in. But thematically and emotionally, it is still incredibly similar to what he and I always talked about," she explained.
She also addressed the subject of Nina Dobrev returning to the series for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. She speculated her return as long as it was permissible for the actress's work schedule. "The only thing I have been saying and will continue to say is that she is 100 percent committed to coming and we are 100 percent committed to having her. At this point, it is just logistics and I do not want to speak too soon because that would be crushing if we could not figure it out, but we are all extremely determined to," she said.
