If you're a fan of the "Bioshock" series or the "Dead Space" franchise, you're in for a treat. The Deep End Games is a newly-formed independent game developer composed of industry veterans who brought you "Bioshock," "Rock Band," "Dead Space," and more.

These developers have combined their collective creative genius to produce "Perception," an innovative new horror game that features a blind female protagonist and a plot that promises to be deliciously frightening.

According to Game Rant, the unique hook to this game is the protagonists' ability to use echolocation. Her name is Cassie, and she can still see by tapping her cane to reveal the space and objects around her. As the game uses first-person POV, the limited sight and monochromatic tinge only serve to up the apprehension players can feel.

The Deep End Games capitalizes on the slow reveal of the world through echolocation to "create a truly new way of dealing with shadows and gloom." As Game Rant explains it and as can be seen in the trailer, the space around the character is revealed bit by bit with every tap of her cane. However, there is a perpetual darkness in every room that is enough to leave viewers constantly on edge.

Wonderfully creepy aesthetic aside, the story is as riveting as it is frightening. According to the PlayStation Blog, Cassie finds herself at the game's main location-an abandoned mansion in Gloucester due to a series of nightmares that have plagued her. After months of research, she's determined to face Echo Bluff head on.

You play as Cassie, navigating through the house in search for answers as you try to avoid the ghostly Presence that has tormented its inhabitants for generations. The mansion itself is also an enigma, as it seems to constantly shift structure and time period.

Cassie's blindness adds to the challenge; every tap reveals more visuals for you to work with but it also reveals your location to your enemies. The game forces you to choose between risk or total darkness.

There is no official release date for "Perception" yet but it will be available for PlayStation 4. Check out the game's latest trailer below.
