Investigators Claim iPhone 6s Battery Explosion Caused the Crash Of Airline Flight MS804 That Killed 66 People On Board
Cris Xander JulianoFrench investigators claim that the Airline Flight MS804 crash that took place in May 2016 killing all 66 people on board was caused by an iPhone 6s battery explosion, according to Mobipicker. Investigators found new evidence that the co-pilot of Airbus A320 and one of his Apple devices are probably the culprits of the fatal incident.
CCTV footage shows the co-pilot, Mohamed Mamdouh Asseem, placed his iPhone, iPad and four bottles of cologne on the cockpit's dashboard right before taking off. According to airline regulations however, all personal effects of the crew must be stored away before take-off.
The black box that contained data from the flight also suggests that a fire started on the co-pilot's side of the cockpit caused the plane to crash as the pilot was heard asking the co-pilot to put out the blaze. Smoke alarms also broke out on the floor beneath the cockpit and at the plane's rest rooms.
The plane disappeared from radar three hours and 25 minutes after take-off, the wreckage was found the next day.
However, air safety expert David Learmount is having doubts about the claims of the investigators according to wccftech. He stated that it's very unlikely for pilots to put their belongings on the dashboard because they know it will end up on the floor as they take-off and they will get airborne in turbulence and could jam the controls.
Meanwhile, an Apple spokesperson stated that they have not been contacted by any authority regarding the tragic event. They have not seen the official report but claims that there is no evidence that could link the incident to Apple products, he says.
