Samsung Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 Edge Nougat 7.0 Update; Galaxy S8 To Use Galaxy S7 Heat Pipe Design
Ritwik RoyThe Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices have received the much-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update. Fans can now enjoy all the benefits and features of the latest Android update.
However, there have been reports of a bug that is scaling the screen resolution automatically to FHD (1920 x 1080). The bug is making this the default screen resolution. It is possible that Samsung's integrated power saving mechanism is causing this. This mode enables users to change screen resolution to bare minimum in a bid to save battery.
According to Tech Times, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Nougat 7.0 update provides users the option to choose between various resolutions such as WQHD mode (2560 x 1440), the FHD mode (1920 x 1080) and the HD mode (1280 x 720). The HD mode consumes least battery whereas the WQHD mode the maximum. The Nougat update houses the WQHD 2K resolution and it is not known why the default resolution is being automatically set to 1080p. Up to now, only a handful of users have reported this bug.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Android 7.0 Nougat update has been made available worldwide. Users who have been affected by the bug can go to the Settings tab, tap the Display Header, tap Change Screen Resolution and then slide all the way to the right to 2560 x 1440 pixels. In another report by GSMArena, it has been revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 handset may be using a heat pipe design, very similar to Galaxy S7 handset. Earlier reports had stated Samsung would be using a two-pipe design.
The heat pipe in the Samsung Galaxy S7 handset, which will also be reportedly used in the Galaxy S8 handset, transfers heat from the chipset to a graphite sheet on the back for efficient dispersal. These kinds of pipes are becoming popular in the smartphone market. LG is also considering using such as heat pipe for its LG G6 smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S8 heat pipes are expected to ship in February. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on Samsung flagships.
