iMac 2017 Release Date: Kaby-Lake Powered iMac Slated To Arrive In Q1 2017 [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelMuch to the dismay of tech buffs, Apple did not take the wraps off a new iMac at its September event in San Francisco. Some optimistic tech pundits believed that Apple would release the device during an exclusive Macbook Pro launch event but that didn't come to fruition either. So, when is the new iMac coming?
Gadget freaks have been restlessly waiting to catch a glimpse of the new iMac but regrettably, there was no sign of the highly anticipated device even in November. As excepted, this stirred conversations among loyal fans of the lauded all-in-one computer.
Multiple reports attribute Apple's decision to delay the new iMac's launch to lack of Intel's new processors. It was also revealed that Apple might employ Polaris, AMD's newest generation of graphics chips and eventually unify them for its next generation of iMac 2017 edition. Despite the recent advent of both the components, the technology realm is still waiting for the consumer variants of Polaris chips for the mainstream.
No prizes for guessing, the iMac 2017 has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks. The rumor mill has been churning all sorts of speculations around the long awaited device. One of the most widely debated speculation suggest Apple could be currently be focusing on VR (virtual reality) since the company's chief executive, Tim Cook indicated that all of them will sport a 5K display.
Amidst the lack of an official announcement, the internet is brimming with reports hinting at an impending arrival of the iMac 2017. In line with this, MacWorld suggests the new iMac would be announced during this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is not scheduled to take place anytime soon.
However, there is a possibility that Apple might not even opt to reveal a new iMac since the company is currently concentrating more on designing their computing needs with portability given the highest priority -- the MacBook Pro 2017 being a perfect example citing its ludicrous price.
Meanwhile, another report from PC Advisor alludes to a March or at least a Q1 2017 launch for the new iMac. The publication cites a recent internal Q&A session where Tim Cook indicated that Apple has a few desktops worth waiting for in the roadmap.
However, since Apple's 2016 release wasn't really streamlined to the company's usual calendars, Apple's next move could come as a total surprise. While these are mere speculations until the Cupertino company either confirms or debunks these reports, it remains to be seen what Apple has decided in terms of pricing as iMac fans would prefer getting their hands on these machines without burning a hole in their pockets.
