Samsung Galaxy S3 Coming to Ting Network: Exclusively Off-Contract, Expensive

Mobilenapps.com published a list of deals for the Samsung Galaxy S3 during launch, and now there's a new deal to consider. Ting, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), is offering the Galaxy S3 on Sprint's 4G Network.

The device, sim-free, will be $529 and $579 for the 16GB and 32GB versions, respectively. The deal seems expensive compared to other carriers, both sim-free and on-contract. The versions will come in Pebble Blue and Marble White.

"It's a killer device. We have a lot of potential customers who have been waiting for this. They won't have to wait much longer," Director of Ting Scott Allan said following the news. The phone will be the first using Sprint's 4G Network, gradually rolling out over 2012. For users on the fence about whether to buy the S3, there's a chance to get S3's for free - out of the first 200 pre-orders.

Sprint announced the introduction of its 4G LTE service earlier in 2012, with rivals AT&T and Verizon offering widespread coverage.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has seen rapid success since debuting May 29. Samsung announced it has sold 10 million units of the S3, half of the Galaxy S2's total sales. Predictions said the phone could reach 40 million units sales figures. The International Data Corporation (IDC) added that it expects Samsung to sell the largest volume of smartphones, ever, from a single vendor partly because of the Galaxy S3.

A few problems have surfaced despite the phone's success. Issues surrounding cracking around the battery area of cases, and the battery life, surfaced recently. Despite Samsung revealing that a fix is in development for the latter, users have jumped the gun.

Samsung selling the most smartphones for any vendor is impressive, if it comes true. With the launch of the iPhone 5 approaching, especially if multiple rumors are believed, the hype will return.

The device has received a strong critical reception. The current feature set and performance have received praise. A 'negative' is probably the design: it arguably looks generic compared to the Lumia 900 or the iPhone 4/4S.
