Huawei has announced its partnership with London's Saatchi Gallery to showcase an exhibit to explore the history of selfies. Called "From Selfie to Self-Expression," the set will run from March 31 to May 30, and will feature artworks from contemporary artists and the old masters.
Winners' Selfies Will Be Hung Alongside Renowned Artists' Portraits
"From Selfie to Self-Expression" will feature significant artworks, several of which showcase interactive, digital and user-generated content. The list of artists is as diverse as Kutluğ Ataman, Christopher Baker, Tracey Emin, Juno Calypso and Vincent Van Gogh. Also included are works of Cindy Sherman, Mohau Modisakeng, Gavin Turk, Velazquez and Rembrandt, cites Android Central.
Huawei is also running a #SaatchiSelfie contest through which one's self-portraits will get a chance to be featured at the Saatchi Gallery. Entrants can submit selfies from the link https://www.saatchigallery.com/selfie/ and ten shortlisted winners will have their pictures featured at the gallery. They will also receive Huawei's latest smartphone. The winner of the contest will get a "priceless photographic experience."
Exciting Prizes Await The Grand Winner In London
The thrilling chance to have one's selfie on display at a famous art gallery may be all the motivation needed to enter -- but it gets better. There are ten finalist places available, and all will be invited to have their selfie placed in the exhibition, plus each will win a Huawei smartphone. Selfies will be judged on originality and creativity. Entries must take the form of a photographic selfie. Those that are experimental and innovative are encouraged.
According to Digital Trends, the winner will attend the grand opening of the exhibition, spend three nights in London and then get the chance to take a "tour of a lifetime" with a world-renowned Leica photographer.
