Niantic may be releasing a new "Pokemon Go" update soon, as Niantic's latest move appears to be preparing users towards some major changes. According to reports, the latest build may feature Gen 2 Pokemon and the upcoming event may allow more gamers to get their hands on a Magikarp.

A new "Pokemon Go" update may be hitting the market soon, as several signs point towards the release of major changes to the game. According to Express, Niantic has been forcing both Android and iOS users to update their apps to the latest version.

This means that Niantic is planning to release "something very big" and the "Pokemon Go" update is expected to be released "very soon." While it remains to be seen what kinds of features will be added along with the update, there are speculations surrounding the upcoming version.

The publication notes on the possible release of the Gen 2 Pokemon in the "Pokemon Go" latest update, although it is also possible to see Shiny Pokemon or Pokemon Genders along with the update. Aside from this, the new build is expected to feature the news function in the form of a top-level button on the menu.

Meanwhile, Slash Gear also reports on the upcoming "Pokemon Go" event, which may focus heavily on Magikarp. According to the publication, the game's first event may take place on April Fool's Day.

Magikarp appears to be the perfect Pokemon to serve as the highlight for the first "Pokemon Go" event since many users have been having difficulties catching one. The Pikachu Medal and Youngster Medal were quite easy to achieve using any Pikachu (with the Santa Hat Pikachu) and an XS Ratata, respectively.

The Fisherman Medal, on the other hand, may only be achieved through an XL Magikarp. The publication notes that the rates for catching a big Magikarp are "extremely low" with an average rate of 14 percent.
