Google Reportedly Testing Prototypes Code-Named ‘Pixel 2B’
Cris Xander JulianoA lot of rumors have been going around about Google developing a much and improved Pixel 2 now that Google Pixel's availability in the market gets tougher to come by. However, another prototype is reportedly being tested by Google code-named Pixel 2B, according to Android Authority.
The device seems to have lower-end hardware and aimed to a market with low budget. The Pixel 2B is speculated to be released with or right after the Pixel 2. Details of the Pixel 2B such as exact hardware specs and pricing were not mentioned although it would be significantly cheaper than the Pixel phones according to 9to5Google.
The Android community may see this as a similar concept for the Android One program which Google initiated by helping to launch low-end phones from third-parties in developing markets. Its target is to bring the pure Android experience for a low budget device and even receives the latest updates from Google. These are all speculations at this time but it would be an interesting move by Google to increase momentum for the Android One program.
Meanwhile, the higher-end Pixel 2 is reportedly being tested with new chips from Qualcomm and Intel, while the camera of the device will also get improvements particularly in low-light shots. It is expected for the next generation Pixel to get improvements; however, there would also be a $50 price increase for the next device.
Google has been developing remarkable devices in recent years, although the company hasn't been able to meet the demands for the first generation of Pixel devices.
