‘Dirt 4’ Coming To PS4, XB1, PC In June 2017; Codemasters Talks Possibility Of Game's Release To Nintendo Switch [VIDEO]
Pia MerciCodemasters has announced the next Dirt game, "Dirt 4", earlier this week alongside the confirmation of it coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this June 6, 2017. More so, Darren Hayward, the game designer, has teased that the game could also come to Nintendo Switch. However, people should not have high hopes for such.
As per Hayward's statement with UK's Daily Star, he said that he already pre-ordered a Switch for himself. Now, they have already picked the platforms wherein "Dirt 4" will be playable, so, obviously at title's launch, it will not be coming to Switch. Though they haven't apparently announced anything about it right now, he would not decide nor say anything official about it, whether it's going to happen or not.
Furthermore, Hayward added that in order for "Dirt 4" to be playable in Nintendo Switch, Codemasters would have to do "quite a lot in terms of extra tweaks" to be able to support the Switch's unique features. This includes the console's Joy-Con motion controllers.
In addition, he said that there are not many inputs, so there should have super simplified controls. Reportedly due to this, it may not be the ideal scenario for the aforementioned title. With that being said, Hayward could definitely see that Nintendo Switch may have some compelling racing experiences, Gamespot reported.
"Dirt 4" follows the 2016 racing game "Dirt Rally", however, it is the first numbered entry since "Dirt 3" in 2011. Meanwhile, "Dirt 4" will be putting an emphasis on the dangerous nature of motorsports.
According to Codemasters, "Dirt 4" will be all about embracing that danger and it will not be all about the thrill but it would be about exhilaration and adrenaline as well, that would be absolutely vital to off-road racing. On the other hand, the Nintendo Switch will be launched on March 3 which will be available for purchase at $300.
