“Arms” is an upcoming video game for the Nintendo Switch. It has already been scheduled for a spring 2017 release, but several gamers were given the chance to try the game, before they are launched, firsthand.

“Arms” received warm reception shortly after the announcement that it is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Players had a single Joy-Con controller in each of their hands, using the motion controls and button combos to fight.

Controls for “Arms” are relatively easy. Gamers just have to direct their Joy-Cons to the direction they want to move to, pull the controllers back if they want to step backwards, and nod them forward to punch the opponent. There are button combinations for special attacks as well.

At present, “Arms” has five playable characters. However, gamers are expecting more character announcements to arrive as it nears its official release date. The characters have their own list of strengths and weaknesses. That said, players need to choose their “Arms” character wisely. Also, they must focus on when is the best time to attack in order to cause massive damage to the opponent.

With all the controls that “Arms” players need to take into account, Game Rant has pointed out that some gamers ended up being frustrated with the imprecise Joy-Con movements.

Moving and punching within the game involves some very quick Joy-con movements. That said, there were reportedly times when a punch was interpreted to be a dodge. This mistake could lead to some hits, especially since the character pushed forward toward the opponent, instead of dodging the attack.

Considering that the hands-on review could be regarded as a beta test, it will be interesting to determine whether or not Nintendo can make some adjustments to make the controls more precise.
