The release of "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" for the Sony PlayStation 4 has just been announced. The game will be launched as a PlayStation VR. The announcement was made by "Psychonauts" developer Double Fine Productions.

The new "Psychonauts" game will be an exclusive for the PlayStation VR. The last game of the series was produced way back 2005 for the PC, Xbox and PlayStation 2 gaming platforms.

According to reports, the new PS VR game will bridge the gap between the first and second release of the series. It will pick up from the story of the first title in the game series.

"Psychonauts" did not receive the success that the game developer projected when it was initially released. The game developed a cult following after its release in PC digital store, particularly in Steam.

Back in 2015, game developer, Double Fine, launched a crowdsourcing campaign for the game's second installment. The crowdsourcing campaign was able to generate $3.8 million via Fig.

Double Fine also announced the development of the "Rhombus of Ruin" in 2015. The game has already been announced as a PS VR exclusive back then.

The story of "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" will revolve around Raz and his mission to save his friends. Raz will make use of his psychic abilities to fulfill his mission.

In the game, players will be able to see through the eyes of Raz and other characters. Raz can make use of his clairvoyance ability to see through the eyes of another.

Raz can also make use of other psychic abilities aside from clairvoyance. Raz can make use of Telekinesis to move objects and he can also make use of Pyrokinesis to set things on fire.

The PSVR exclusive "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin" will be released on Feb. 21, 2017. "Psychonauts 2" is said to be released on 2018.
