LTE connectivity for Classic
Phone Arena reported that the formal-looking Samsung Gear S3 Classic is now supporting LTE connectivity. This means that owners of the device can already use their own data without having to connect their smartwatch to a phone.
The offering of an LTE variant for the S3 Classic was positively received by many Samsung Gear fans since it gives a whole lot of meaning to the watch being a wearable device. The Samsung Gear S3 Classic version was recently made available in Korea for around $390.
According to Geeky Gadgets, buyers would still need to buy a USIM chip for a separate price. The new offering is also exclusively sold by SK Telecom and there are still no details if it will be available in other stores or be brought to other countries.
Samsung Tizen 4.0 upgrade
On the other hand, Express mentioned that a Samsung TizenOS 4.0 update is also expected for the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. It explained that the beta for this operating system is set to come out in June with the official version releasing in September.
Update features and highlights
The Samsung TizenOS 4.0 is anticipated to make the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier work faster and more efficient. It is thought to also power Samsung's home offerings like vacuum cleaners and washing machines.
These features are certainly upgrades from what the predecessor offered to Gear S3 owners. The Tizen 3.0 was released with 4K graphics support, 64-bit compatibility and speech and image recognition.
