"2017 Grammy Awards" Ad Featuring Taylor Swift Flags Women Empowerment
RommelTaylor Swift is at it again, and for the right reasons. As a teaser for the upcoming 2017 Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift is seen offering a speech which salutes and empowers women. This is in light of the recent women's marches that have penetrated all parts of the US since the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.
Swift, whose album won the "Album of the Year" award last year, is seen paying tribute to all women and the women's struggle in her acceptance speech. A commercial featuring the 2017 Grammy Awards was released last January 31 and it paid homage to all women by featuring the 1989 singer's "Album of the Year" acceptance speech from last year's awarding ceremony. In said speech, Swift was offering a girl-empowering message that has been viral since its release.
It will be recalled that Swift, at that time, had a standing feud with controversial rapper Kanye West. This feud materialized into West's song "Famous" in which the lyrics "I made that bitch famous" appears. These lyrics were referring to Taylor Swift. As a response, Swift offer the poignant acceptance speech.
Taylor's speech, as transcribed, reads as follows: "I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you will look around and you will know it was you and the people who loved you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world."
The ad starts off with a girl, looking at herself in the mirror. In doing so, the girl recites Swift's speech while engaging other girls' musical talents as they continue to utter the lines from the Swift's 2016 speech.
The ad featured a variety of girls, from a girl climbing the stairs with her tuba to another girl drumming passionately. The ad was an orgasmic display of visual pastiche that offered a representation of the singers' inspiring words. Fans were thrilled to see the latest ad by the Grammy Awards. The 2017 Grammy Awards is set to air on February 12, Sunday, at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on CBS.
