NBA Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony On The Trade Block? Kristaps Porzingis Defends Teammate

Kristaps Porzingis finally gave a statement after rumors of Carmelo Anthony getting traded off in the premier NBA league. Recently, the New York Knicks star is in the headlines not because of his greatness on court, but due to the planned trade which is reportedly going to really change the dynamics of the NBA.

With the deadline of the trades nearing, Carmelo Anthony is one of the players subject of much speculation and rumors about getting traded to another team. However, prior to the New York Knicks finally making a decision and potentially pulling the trigger, other stars of the team needs to be consulted as Anthony is one heck of a franchise player they may be losing moving forward.

One of the players affected by this issue is Kristaps Porzingis, one of the team's prized possessions. In an interview, he said that trading Carmelo Anthony to a different team would not be helpful for him as it will not accelerate his learning curve on the court. According to Porzingis, Anthony helped him a lot in adjusting movement in the court. The 11-time-All Star has definitely helped him grow into a budding superstar. He said: “Regarding Melo, I think that it would be a lot more difficult for me when he gets traded, he has made it easier for me countless times."

Porzingis' statement is definitely true. The 21-year-old Latvian 7-footer has done a tremendous job on court for the past two years as he is guided by Carmelo Anthony, who averages 23 points, 6.1 rebounds. Anthony is definitely getting a lot of attention on the court, making it possible for Porzingis to take charge and operate in space. Kristaps Porzingis has had a really great rookie campaign with an average of 18.7 points and 7.1 rebounds this season. However, he has taken fewer shots per game than the rumored to-be traded Knicks star.
