Hideo Kojima Has A Release Date Set For 'Death Stranding;' Says Game Is 'Dark' But Not A Horror One
Nicole T.Since the time Hideo Kojima revealed "Death Stranding" at E3 2016, fans have been patiently waiting for more news about it. However, the months following the convention offered a slow flow of "Death Stranding" news. That's all about to change with the creator himself now talking about it more.
Kojima appeared at the RTX Sydney 2017 event and talked about "Death Stranding," shedding light on the game's mystery. He revealed that he has set a release date for "Death Stranding," but stopped short when asked when it would be. The developer said that he follows his own deadlines rather than setting a meeting about the date with a publisher or company.
Kojima did confirm once again that the game will be an open-world exploration experience. However, "Death Stranding" won't be compatible with VR headsets, as reported by Game Rant. Nonetheless, Kojima is keeping VR compatibility on the table and may look at its possibility after "Death Stranding's" launch.
According to Kojima, the development of "Death Stranding" is underway. They are still modifying Guerilla Games' Decima Engine to suit the game's graphical needs. Kojima Productions is working closely with the "Horizon: Zero Dawn" developers for the engine's development.
PlayStation Lifestyle also reported that Hideo Kojima revealed "Death Stranding's" genre. "I don't have a dark mindset in particular. Death Stranding is not a horror game," Kojima said. "I just wanted to make something that looks very unique, something you haven't seen before, something with a more artistic slant to it. I'm not pursuing a dark aspect to the game."
The developer also revealed that humor will play a part in "Death Stranding," but not enough to ruin its atmosphere. Kojima said that humor is important so players can enjoy the game through its peaks and valleys.
