The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier may be getting some new competition sooner than expected. A major update was in store for Samsung's flagship smartwatch in the upcoming months, but the newest collaboration between LG and Google may knock it right out of the spotlight. The two corporate giants were all set to release Android Wear 2.0 on February 9th this year. However, the latest reports say we can expect these models to unveil a day earlier.

Release Date: February 8? According to Phone Arena, the buzz behind this latest release date came via a tweet posted by reliable tipster Evan Blass. The two new timepieces, LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport, may be revealed on February 8, which is barely two days away.

According to Gadget 360, both smartwatches are said to feature circular, plastic OLED displays. They work with both iOS and Android, and will feature deep Google Assistant integration. The LG Watch Sport in particular is very promising; you may take and make calls on it without pairing it to your handset. According to Phone Arena, it will use your existing mobile phone number.

$249 At Launch. Express UK cites Android Police, stating that the new Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch retails for $249. Another point against the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic, as a sticker price of $249 is considerably cheaper than the two models.

There are factors that could affect this base price, of course. Some reports say the LG Watch Style and Watch Sport will be priced differently, with the Watch Style at $249 and the Watch Sport at a hundred bucks higher, $349. While that now places it neck-and-neck with the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier's sticker price of $349.99, the prices remain speculation until confirmed.
