"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" has recently gone gold as it has finally finished development. However, with its imminent release looming closer, fans are still getting new details about the game. The most recent one is that Epona, Link's trusted horse, may not appear in the game.

The "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" news was brought by Game Informer via GameSpot. According to the report, Epona won't be available to ride. However, series producer Eiji Aonuma has already confirmed that she will still be in the game. So, what does that mean?

According to Game Informer, the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" hero will have to tame new horses if ever the hero wants a faster ride. They say that the stronger the horse, the harder it is to tame. To do that, Link will have to stealthily stalk a horse until he is near it. Once he mounts, Link should soothe the animal and feed it, taming the horse for transportation.

With that, however, it is apparent that Epona won't be Link's main ride, which is linked to Aonuma's comment about her.

"I do not want to reveal details about how to find her, or what that means," he said in an interview with IGN Portugal. During the same interview, the producer also revealed that there is an alternate ending for "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Epona first appeared on "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" as Game Rant noted. Since then, she had become one of the most recognizable game pets of all time. The news that Epona won't be with Link on the new "Legend of Zelda" title has disappointed fans. However, Aonuma's comments about the horse created speculations that Epona will be more than just a means of transportation and will play a role in the game.

As of now, it is still unknown as to what Epona's role for "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be. So, fans will have to wait until March 3 to play the game on Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
