Jamie Lyn Spears has a lot to be happy about as her 8-year-old daughter is finally awake after being in a coma recently, according to a representative of the Spears family. Maddie, Spears' daughter, met an injury after an all-terrain vehicle she was driving swerved into a pond somewhere in Louisiana.

In a statement sent to People magazine, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Department via the Spears' family representative said 'With her father, mother, and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday, February 07.'

In a Fox report, it was explained in the statement that the child 'is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident.' Updates on Maddie's condition prior to her regaining consciousness disclosed that Britney Spears' niece was temporarily placed on a ventilator.

In a released statement, as reported in AOL, the family representative said that 'Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident."

Previously, Britney Spears tweeted, "Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece." It was disclosed by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office that Maddie was submerged inside the ATV and that family member who were approximate to the place where the unfortunate incident occurred encountered difficulty in freeing her from a seatbelt and safety net until an ambulance service arrived to pull her out.

Jamie Lyn's publicist, on Monday, said that the family is asking the public to 'respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.'

It will be recalled that Jamie Lyn became pregnant with Maddie at the age of 16 while still starring in the hit Nickelodeon series "Zoey 101."Her pregnancy prompted her to quit the show and has been shying away from the public eye since. Recently, however, Spears became active in the limelight again and began recording and performing country music.
