Twitter is launching new tools for social network users to use for abusive and unsafe posts. On the Twitter blog site, Vice President of Engineering, Ed Ho, announced the new changes coming to their site.
There are three changes coming to Twitter this week, and it will all help to eradicate cyber harassment and bullying. These changes include the ban on "creating new abusive accounts, bringing forward safer search results and collapsing potentially abusive or low-quality Tweets."
According to Ho, their goal for this anti-abuse tool is to make Twitter a safer place. Abusive people often use tweets and posts to express their emotions and feelings without any control on their words, and the social networking site will never tolerate these.
"Making Twitter a safer place is our primary focus," he said. "We stand for freedom of expression and people being able to see all sides of any topic. That's put in jeopardy when abuse and harassment stifle and silence those voices."
Previously, Twitter introduced an improvement that gives users more ways to report abusive tweets. On the blog, the company claimed that they already began working on this new feature in November and that it will be launched this month.
Twitter promised that they will continue to enhance and develop their site for users' safety. Also, they also stressed that they are open to listen to any suggestions, concerns and feedback from the community to help them determine what changes are needed the most.
