Destiny HotFix 2.5.0.2 Release Date: Weapon Balance Changes To Launch February 14, Artifacts Update To Come Next? [VIDEO]
Rei LantionBungie's Live Fire exercise for HotFix 2.5.0.2 has come and gone, but its left fans in a fair state of excitement for the February 14 launch. The upcoming patch promises to target weapon balancing, particularly shotguns. If you didn't catch them live on Twitch last February 8, you can check out the video below, courtesy of YouTube user Mesa Sean.
Shotgun Overview: Nerfed
While the full patch notes have yet to be released, this post on Bungie's Blog reports we can expect them to launch alongside the patch on Tuesday, February 14, around 10AM PST. The Sandbox livestream already shows a good number of those changes in effect, but the specifics will remain sketchy until the official release.
One of the key changes in HotFix 2.5.0.2 is definitely modifications made to shotguns. As Game Spot puts it, they've been "dialed back due to their overwhelming strength in Crucible." For one thing, it looks like precision damage has been removed from legendary shotguns. General in-air accuracy has been decreased, as has magnetism. Rangefinder decreases ADS speed by about 25 percent, but a 20 percent damage buff in PvE has been added.
Again, without the full patch notes, the specificities aren't a hundred percent accurate. However, Reddit users have still done their best to collate what they've learned from the livestream. You can check it out here.
Although the patch, as reported by IGN, is apparently meant to "increase weapon versatility and usefulness without having to nerf shotguns into the ground," it's starting to look like shotguns have received a blanket nerf for "Destiny" HotFix 2.5.0.2.
Arifacts Updates: Coming Soon
During the livestream, Bungie made no mention of Artifacts updates-a fact they acknowledge in their post. "You haven't heard the last from the Live Team," they write, "and the Sandbox is always an important part of their exploration of where the game should go next."
This suggests that we can expect more updates for "Destiny" before the imminent arrival of the sequel, "Destin 2." Perhaps the next update will focus more on Artifacts, particularly Skorri's. Catch "Destiny" HotFix 2.5.0.2 plus full patch notes next week Tuesday, February 14, at 10AM PST.
