Dell Inspiron Laptop Reported Exploded While Charging
Gloven RamosRecently this month, a Dell laptop reportedly burst into flames. Sources claim that the owner of the said laptop was interrupted when the device suddenly exploded while connected to a power source.
The Dell Inspiron laptop reportedly exploded four times. Even after the owner unplugged the charger and took it outside, the laptop continued to explode.
Dell is currently investigating the reason why the laptop exploded. According to their statement, they are coordinating with Mr. Devon Johnsons, the laptop's owner, to retrieve the product so they can conduct a "complete investigation to validate its origin and understand its full history."
No other major incidents of exploding Dell laptops were reported, except for the Dell laptop that exploded in a Japanese conference more than a decade ago. No final report about the cause of the explosion was released from Dell's investigation.
Based on the initial investigations, it appears that the explosion and fire were caused by the Dell laptop's lithium-ion battery. This battery is the same type used in other gadgets like Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that was recently recalled for causing fires.
Luckily, Dell will not experience the same fate as Samsung. Worldwide, many devices and gadgets have been reported to explode while charging, but it is more likely caused by the misuse of the gadgets, especially when it is charging.
