Psyonix will release a new update for "Rocket League" that will support PS4 Pro beginning next week. This latest patch will allow the game to run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on the said Sony console.

On February 21, Psyonix's popular soccer video game will run at both 1080 pixels on PS4 and 4K on PS4 Pro in all arenas for single-screen and two-player split-screen modes. The three and four-player split-screen modes will give players 60 frames per second on their screen.

The update for "Rocket League" will also bring new visual optimizations, bug fixes, premium contents and more! These include the following:

  • Premium DLC cars such as Twin Mill III and Bone Shaker which are sold separately.
  • Free Hot Wheels-themed post-match item drops and these include Toppers and Antennas.
  • "Player's Choice" Crate which is voted by fans that is filled with players' favorite items.
  • Technical improvements for PS4
  • Performance optimizations for the game and bug fixes.

Psyonix promises that there will be more updates to come for "Rocket League" this year. The PS4 Pro update is only the first and one of the slew of content coming in the near future, as per official press release posted via PlayStation Blog.

The update is one of the Pro patches that players have been waiting for quite some time. The developer said last year that they are looking at the possibility of PS4 Pro update but they never committed to release one.

Gamespot notes that without this update, the game does not benefit from its additional horsepower. Players were only contented to use the new firmware update called Boost Mode that offers improvements.

And for those who have an Xbox One and wants to own the game, Xbox One Deals with Gold offers 25% discount for Rocket League. Other games offered on Xbox Live deals are "Mafia 3", "Final Fantasy 15", "GTA 5", "Overwatch", "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" and others.

"Rocket League" currently supports PS4, Xbox One, OS X, Linux, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates.
