'The Last Of Us 2' Focuses On Cycle Of Hatred & Violence; Possibly Won't Have Happy Ending
Nicole T.Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us 2" director Neil Druckmann is finally giving fans more details about the game. Druckmann has confirmed the ending of the game and talked about what takes place in the sequel.
Neil Druckmann talked about "The Last of Us 2" during his interview with Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. During the interview, Druckmann revealed the greatest theme of the game. He said via Starz Post that while the first game focused on "irrational love of a parent to child," the second one will focus more on "cycle of violence and hatred."
Indeed, the theme is rather prominent on the trailer that was released on 2016. The trailer showed Ellie, "The Last of Us" protagonist, singing while playing the guitar. As Joel enters the house where Ellie was, the video showed corpses filled with blood throughout the house. By the end, Ellie says she will "kill every last one of them."
This has also led to the speculations that Joel was dead and Ellie was seeking revenge for him. Although Joel appeared briefly on "The Last of Us 2" trailer, fans believe the girl is only hallucinating.
Apart from the strong theme of revenge and violence, Neil Druckmann has also hinted that "The Last of Us 2" won't have a happy ending. According to International Business Times, the director did not feel the need to create a "happy ending" for the game.
The theory of Joel being dead fits well with the director's confirmation. However, without "The Last of Us 2" being released and finally being played, fans have no idea what to expect. The director has revealed before that they do create scenes for the trailers to deceive players.
"The Last of Us 2" still does not have any release date. The director also confirmed that it's still a long while after the game goes gold.
