Microsoft Surface Phone Specs, Features and Release Updates: Flagship Device Could Be Discontinued; Fans Still Anticipate Release
Nens MitchellThough many are already awaiting the release of the Microsoft Surface Phone, there are still speculations that the brand will not anymore continue with the device. This was mainly attributed to the poor performance of other Windows devices.
No more Surface Phone?
TechTimes noted that the possibility of stopping the release of the Microsoft Surface Phone is big adding that the market share of Windows smartphone sales has declined especially in the last quarter of last year. With this trend, Microsoft could be thinking twice in developing and releasing a Surface Phone.
The tech company could, on the other hand, maximize their resources on earlier released Windows phones which are already available to the public. This will help boost the sales of these handsets and help Microsoft save money and resources.
Nadella's announcement
But a lot of fans of Microsoft devices are still holding on to the statement of company CEO Satya Nadella in November last year when he mentioned that they are working to produce the "ultimate mobile device." Many speculated that Nadella could be talking about the Surface Phone.
Release speculations and pricing
Should it still come out this year, the Surface Phone could be released during the first half of 2017, Trusted Reviews indicated. The device is expected to be priced around $699 to $1,100.
The Microsoft Surface Phone is also believed to come in three variants: Consumer Edition, Business Edition and Enthusiast Edition. The Consumer Edition is thought to be the flagship device, the Business variant is similar to a Blackberry phone while the Enthusiast option is similar to Samsung's Note series.
Specs and features
Microsoft's anticipated release could also come with a 5.7-inch screen, 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB of storage. A Snapdragon 835 chipset could also be available with the device.
There is still no official word from the company about the Microsoft Surface Phone but many are hoping it will still materialize. Do you want to have a Microsoft Surface Phone available in the market?
