Axe and Chuck are back in the Tension-Filled 'Billions' Season 2
S. TurlaBobby "Axe" Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Charles "Chuck" Rhoades Jr. (Paul Giamatti) are back in "Billions" Season 2. The second season of the drama series is full of tension as Axe and Chuck face-off once again.
According to Mirror.co.uk, "Billions" Season 2 will focus on the never-ending rivalry between Axe and Chuck. Despite the "battle of two supersized egos," both men are also "blaming each other" for performance coach Wendy's (portrayed by Maggie Siff) departure.
Axe and Chuck are also desperate to get her back, especially now that Wendy is working with other clients. "Billions" Season 2 began with Bobby filing a lawsuit against Chuck, "citing undue and unlawful harassment in the workplace." Following the lawsuit, a representative from the Office of Professional Responsibility shows up to look into Chuck's alleged misbehavior.
"As long as he's in that job, Axe Capital isn't safe," insists Axe during one of his rants. "When an enemy is down on the field, you've got to finish him," he continued. It looks like Axe has become "extremely paranoid," and he has become obsessed with who he can trust.
Axe has even put "his company in lock down, with all employees given a magnetic wristband to get in and out, and all electronic items to be left at the door." The hedge fund manager also claims, "We are under siege."
Per Mashable, viewers can't take their eyes off of "Billions" since it focuses on "a zero-sum game" between Axe, "a power-hungry billionaire," and Chuck, "an ethically questionable U.S. attorney." Andrew Ross Sorkin, the show's creator, shared that it puts the spotlight on the "culture that creates business people like Donald Trump."
In a separate interview with Axios, Sorkin said, "In the age of Trump - the culture of money and power - and trying to understand the cross-currents that motivate these men (and some women) to seemingly always drive for 'more' has become central to our national conversation. And those themes have always been central to the show."
