‘Pokemon GO’ Update: Pokemon Day Event, Pikachu Party Hats & Move Changes
Ritwik RoyThe Pokemon Company is planning a full day of celebrations for Pokemon Day event. It's the next big "Pokemon GO" event after the Halloween and Christmas/New Year events. The in-game event has already been announced and on Feb. 26, special Pikachu wearing party hats will begin spawning to celebrate the anniversary of the first Pokemon game's release. This will continue till March 6, though the Pikachu will retain their party hats even after the event ends. Pokemon.com has shared the full list of activities.
According to WWG, the "Pokemon GO" Pokemon Day event is similar to the Christmas event when Pikachu around the world donned Santa Claus caps to celebrate the holidays. The Pikachu retained their hats even after evolving to Raichu. It is expected that the Party Pikachu will also do the same thing.
There are a lot of things in the pipeline for the company, such as, release of the limited Pikachu Yellow Edition New Nintendo 3DS, online release of a special collection of Gallery Figures featuring Pikachu and other Pokemon and home release of the "Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel."
The Pokemon Company hasn't shared any photo of Pikachu's party hat. Pokemon Day is on Feb. 27 and it will mark the 21st anniversary of the series that debuted in Japan in 1996. Last year, Pokemon Day celebrations included a Super Bowl commercial and a party with actress Drew Barrymore, writes GameSpot.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that dozens of "Pokemon GO" moves have been changed. The duration of most of the game's quick moves has been altered. For certain moves, Niantic has reduced the power, damage inflicted and energy gain.
A noteworthy change has been made to the Water Gun that previously inflicted 10 damage, but now, inflicts only five. The recent move changes have however made catching Blissey easier. For the full list of "Pokemon GO" moves changes, one may refer to Heavy.
