Halo 4, Borderlands 2, and Resident Evil 6 are three of the most anticipated games this year. Here is a look at what gamers have to look forward to.
Halo 4
Halo 4 is highly anticipated as much for the changes it brings to the Halo franchise as for the next installment in the series. 343 Industries just popped into existence, a fact Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor admitted at E3, so the idea of a new studio developed Bungie's franchise alarms many fans. Microsoft put together 343 with staff from Retro Studio, Konami, Bungie, and even the Space Shuttle Program create the new Halo title.
Borderlands 2
Gearbox is bringing back the loot-collecting shooter with a bigger world and loads of weapons. Gearbox is introducing new characters and new types of quests to to remove the original game's problem of repetitive fetch quests. New RPG stat-increasing options also add depth, so players have the option to create a personalized character.
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 6, like Halo 4, is riding on the success of the name. It is being developed by the team that built Resident Evil 4, so the strong pedigree suggests that the game should be a hit. The availability of three playable characters could mean that players in groups may want to play as Leon or Chris but end up playing as a completely different character, with a completely different playstyle. Previous Resident Evil titles are associated with a particular characters: Nemesis with Jill and Resident Evil 4 with Leon, so who fans will associate with Resident Evil 5 remains to be seen.
