‘Destiny 2’ Confirmed For E3 2017? Features, Release Date, And Everything We Know So Far

Aside from confirming that "Destiny 2" is still on track for a 2017 release, Activision has offered no further information on the sequel to their hit first-person shooter. They've set the release date to some time in fall, but nothing narrower than that. For now, speculations permeate the most of the "Destiny 2" webspace. Activision's confirmed attendance at this year's E3 has fans hopeful that we'll be hearing more about the second installment by then.

'Destiny 2' Confirmed Release Date 2017

Radio silence on the developer's part triggered rumors that "Destiny 2" would be pushed back to an early 2018 release instead. However, during Activision's earnings call last February 9, they specifically stated in a slideshow that the "full Destiny sequel in 2017" aims to "broaden the franchise's global reach." According to Kotaku, this is as good a confirmation as any that "Destiny 2" is coming out this year.

Given that the first "Destiny" game was a bit of a letdown, it makes sense that Bungie would rather exercise caution this time around. They started talking too early during the first installment, and thus ended up revealing features and storylines that never made it to the final cut---much to the disappointment of players. Ergo, Kotaku's assumption that "Destiny 2" will launch in fall 2017 following a "Destiny" spring update seems sound.

'Destiny 2' News at E3 2017?

E3 2017 takes place June 13 to 15 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Both Sony and Activision have confirmed their attendance for E3, which gives rise to the possibility of new "Destiny 2" information being revealed then. It might be a while before Bungie feels ready to talk about their plans for "Destiny 2," but June feels like a nice stable in-between month to prep fans and promote the sequel before it arrives.

"Destiny 2" will be made available for both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Rumors also include a potential PC version for the game, but neither Bungie nor Activision has confirmed this.
