Come Sept. 19, the Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer HTC is expected to unleash a gamut of devices and seems to be gearing up to challenge its rivals. Rumors of an upcoming HTC smartphone, codenamed Accord, are flying thick and fast. A recent tweet from an XDA Developer disclosed the Accord's specs and feature details.
Earlier rumors have suggested that HTC would be launching the smartphone under the name HTC X8. The latest rumor is courtesy an XDA Developer who goes by the handle @Football4PDA. His tweet shows an image which surmises the entire specifications of HTC's newest smartphone.
The leaked specification indicates that the HTC X8 will feature a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM as opposed to a 1.5GHz MSM8960 dual-core processor with 1GB RAM as previously rumored. The HTC X8 is now expected to feature NFC capabilities as well as the Beats Audio technology, which will enable improved audio quality on the handset. To heat up the competition with rivals Nokia and Samsung, the smartphone is also expected to run on Windows Phone 8.
The Accord will sport a 4.3-inche 720p Super LCD 2 display. The smartphone will tout an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, autofocus, an LED flash, and 1080p HD video recording. The front-facing camera will likely include an "ultra-wide angle" lens, for better video calls, and like the front-facing camera record 1080p video. The smartphone is expected to use a 29mm f/2.0 lens when compared to the f/2.6 in Samsung Galaxy S3 or the f/2.4 of iPhone 4S.
The smartphone may also include 16GB of on-board storage and will use a microSIM. The HTC X8 is also expected to house a 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port and will likely include Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
The Accord will cater to the mid-level handset market. With the launch of other smartphones and the recent launch of Nokia Lumia 820 in the same category, tech experts are of the opinion that the HTC Accord will be worth the wait for smartphone enthusiasts.
