Halo 4's E3 2012 demo showed a hint of new enemies and weapons, including the Promethean Knight and the shotgun equivalent Scattershot. Images taken from an upcoming issue of GameInformer reveal sub-variants of the Promethean Knight and Crawler enemy classes along with a few more new weapons.
Along with the Knight, the "captain of the Promethean force," three news Knights were revealed: The Knight Lancer, a scout version that can see players through solid objects; the Knight Commander, which is more resilient and spawns Autosentry turrets; and the Knight Battlewagon, a last resort when other version of Knights have failed, which uses stronger armor than the Commander, deploys Autosentries, and uses Scattershot.
Along with the Watcher and Crawler, which throw grenades and hunt in packs, respectively, the Alpha Crawler and Crawler Sniper were unveiled. The Alpha is the leader of Crawler packs; the Crawler Sniper, judging from the name, will maintain its distance, though a description was not provided.
Scattershot is the aforementioned Forerunner shotgun that fires shells in a spread.
"Mixing traits of a rocket launcher, shotgun, and flamethrower," the Incineration Cannon is a "highly destructive weapon" that sounds like a cross between the Spartan Laser and Plasma Cannon. The Boltshot is a Forerunner pistol, an alternative to the Magnum. The Binary Rifle is a one-shot kill weapon and perhaps a power weapon.
Described as a blending of the Battle Rifle and Designated Marksman Rifle, the Lightrifle offers burst and long-range firing. The Suppressor fires bolt of "Hardlight" and "is a favorite of Forerunner troops against the Flood" (the latter are not returning).
The Pulse Grenade sounds like a similar piece of equipment from Halo 3, slowing down vehicles reducing shields and health, while creating an area of effect field.
It is very possible these new enemies and weapons are not the full representation of Halo 4's content, but revealing a potential antagonist is unlikely months before the November launch.
Halo 4 launches Nov. 6 on Xbox 360.
