‘Destiny’ Latest Update: McFarlane To Produce Affordable Action Figures; Release Dates, Price & More
CJ Estimada"Destiny," set in a "mythic science fiction" world, features a multiplayer "shared-world" environment with features of role-playing games. It has the good aspects gamers expect from that combination. It is among the most well-known video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision.
Despite this, fans of the game don't have much options if they want to buy its toys. While there is a wide selection on 3A's "Destiny" collectibles, getting one would mean breaking the bank at closely $200 apiece. There's a cheap option though, like Mega Bloks' figurines and vehicles, but they look like "baby's first action figure."
"Destiny" Action Figures Details
As reported by Polygon, this year, McFarlane Toys is coming in with some "Destiny" figurines that are more traditional. The toys will be sold at the mass-market prices. The company recently brought the entire line-up to Toy Fair NY.
McFarlane is manufacturing one 7-inch Guardian figure for each of "Destiny's" three classes: Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. The toys will be featured in specialized armor that players will recognize instantly. Each of the Guardian figurines will cost only $19.99 and will include a Destiny-branded base, two weapons and a Ghost.
Collectors want to do more with their toys, so new figures will likely include "Destiny" figures, exhibit impressive level of details and feature at least 14 points of articulation. This is based on customer feedback.
Moreover, McFarlane is likewise producing one 10-inch "Destiny" figure, enshrining one of the game's best-known characters, Lord Saladin. Larger toys will cost $34.00 and come with two different heads, one with helmet and the other without.
More Destiny Toys Are In The Works
McFarlane executive Chris Council said plans to produce a second line of Destiny toys, that will possibly feature female action figures eventually. The company is also said to be working on two Destiny toys that aren't action figures, priced at $34.99. One is a model of the Gjallarwing. Another one is a life-sized replica, (or close to it) "Destiny: Rise of Iron's" Iron Gjallarhorn.
Council promised that the $149.99 final product will be "light enough to cosplay with." The figures will be available at "major retailers" around the US in July. McFarlane said the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock toys are part of its "initial wave" of figures, which suggests more are coming later, writes GameSpot.
