The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to hit the store shelves in two variants including a 5.15-inch model and a 5.7-inch model. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor will reportedly be firing up both the upcoming models.
While the rumor mill continues to churn all sorts of speculations around the Xiaomi Mi 6 series, the long-rumored successor to the Mi 5 has got a stamp of approval from the state-run telecom regulatory body in China -- 3C (Compulsory Certifications of China). Xiaomi device bearing model number MCE16, and believed to be from the much-awaited Mi 6 series has received the nod from 3C, GizmoChina reported (via International Business Times).
In China, it is imperative for all mobile phones to get 3C's approval before their official launch. Getting 3C's nod implies the purported Mi 6 smartphone is on the verge of hitting the store shelves. The approval also indicates the smartphone is safe to use under a bunch of terms including anti-fraud, environment, security, hygiene, and health.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications, Release Date & Pricing
Multiple sources suggest Xiaomi could adopt the launch pattern Samsung followed for the Galaxy S8 series and come out with two variants of the Mi 6 with different screen sizes, which comprise a 5.15-inch and a 5.7-inch model. The regular Mi 6 version is expected to sport full HD display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution and pack 4GB/6GB RAM, which most probably will be coupled with 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage.
On the photography front, the standard model will sport a 19MP camera with Sony IMX400 sensor having 1/2.3-inch lens. The device will boast a mammoth 8MP front shooter with ultra pixel sensor and will come with a 3,200mAH battery.
The high-end Mi 6 model, on the other hand, will pack 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB/256GB storage under the hood. This version of the Mi 6 will feature QHD screen with 2560x1440 pixels resolution. It will use a 12MP dual camera equipped with Sony IMX362 sensor and an 8MP front shooter with ultra pixel sensor and a huge 4,500mAh battery.
The two variants of the Mi 6 i.e. the 5.15-inch and the 5.7-inch models will be up for grabs in mid-April, either on 11 or 16, bearing price tags of 342 Euros (about $365) and 273 Euros (about $291) respectively. But, BlastingNews stated that the devices will not be marketed outside the Asian continent.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Leaks
Despite the lack of an official confirmation, several reports have been pointing to a looming launch for the highly anticipated Mi 6 smartphone. With the hype surrounding the Beijing-based handset maker's upcoming device, it is hardly surprising that Xiaomi Mi 6 leaks have been pouring in from all corners.
Lining with this, what looks like the Mi 6's retail box with a full spec sheet on the back, have surfaced online. While details about the latest leak are hard to come by, GSM Arena discovered a 3000 number, which according to the publication alludes to a 30MP camera.
It can be recalled that Sony used a 24.8MP sensor in the Xperia Z5 generation and then the XZ. The company even resorted to using a lower-res 19MP camera for the XZs and XZ Premium, meaning, there have been radical changes as far as megapixels are concerned. And with Type 1/2.3," the 24.8 sensor was one of the largest, so 30MP could either mean tiny pixels or a comparatively huge sensor.
While nothing is set in stone yet, there could be 2x15MP cameras as few previously surfaced renders of the Xiaomi Mi 6 have hinted at a dual camera setup. However, the leaked renders did not shed more light on the specifics of the cameras.
