Samsung Galaxy S8 Latest News: Flagship Device Fails To Deliver Bixby At Launch
Keisuke AkioThe South Korean tech giant boasts that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a Virtual Assistant upon release. However, it appears that the flagship device will not have Bixby at launch.
On the launching event of the latest Samsung duo, the company also proudly displayed its new virtual assistant. If Apple has Siri, Microsoft has Cortana, Amazon has Alexa and Google has its own Google Assistant, Samsung will have Bixby. This is said to be one of most exciting features Galaxy S8 has.
Samsung fans are about to get hyped up on this news, but unfortunately, the company announced that the Bixby Assistant is still a work in progress. It will not be shipped together with the Galaxy S8, which is already set to be released on April 21 in the US. This will be a disappointment for those who are waiting to try the Bixby Assistant, says Wccftech.
According to Samsung's statement to Axios, saying that the key features Bixby on Galaxy S8, such as the Home, Vision and Reminder can already be accessed by the users together with the improved reality on the camera application of the device. The only thing will be missing, for now, is the voice of Bixby but the company is assuring that it will come in the US, later this year.
Samsung's official statement also pointed out that the whole essence of the "Voice Assistant" will be useless without the Bixby Voice. Admittedly the company said that the most enjoyable feature of the Virtual Assistant is its voice, just like Siri and Cortana. It can be said that the user can create a sense of bonding with the software through this.
Furthermore, Samsung said that whatever could be done through touch, can be done through voice also. This is what they call the full voice control. Bixby can be that vital for Galaxy S8 base on the fact that it has a "dedicated" button on the device, reported BBC. A lot of reviewers commented that Bixby is a bit buggy on the device but the company ignored those comments. Samsung haven't announced anything about the reason of this delay, regardless of the hype it created on the launch
