Apple is expected to come out with brand new iMacs, simply dubbed as iMac 2017 at the moment, in the bid to take on the Microsoft Surface Studio.

Apple has been on a roll this year unveiling the iPad Pro and the MacBook Pro, which many claims isn't quite up to par, and of course; the long-rumored iPhone 8, but the Cupertino-based tech titan has more aces up its sleeve. There's hearsay that the iMac 2017 is on the verge of finally getting a much-needed refresh.

It's no secret that Apple is lagging behind as far as desktops are concerned, and its arch-rival Microsoft has already released the Surface Studio back in 2016. The iMac 2017 has been subject to a bunch of unconfirmed rumors. Apple has reportedly roped in Quanta Computers to work on the new iMac starting next month, according to DigiTimes (via International Business Times).

As far as specs and features are concerned, the iMac 2017 is expected to boast an array of jaw-dropping specifications, despite the lack of an official announcement. Since nothing is set in stone yet, readers are advised to take these speculations with a huge grain of salt until Apple either confirms or denies them.

iMac 2017 For Pro Users

Apple is said to launch two iMacs this year, and if rumors running rampant are anything to go by, one of them will exclusively cater for pro users. The said iMac version is will be the most powerful desktop equipped with server-grade features, if rumors proved to be true.

That include the iMac 2017 packing Intel Xeon E3-1285 chipsets, which is an upgrade from the already compelling v3 processor, coupled with 64 GB ECC (error-correcting code) RAM that offers enhanced protection from data corruption, according to TheChristianPost. Moreover, the 2017 iteration of the iMac will come bearing a striking resemblance to the screen sizes of the current generation iMac models.

In other words, the iMac 2017 will sport 21.5-inch and 27-inch screen sizes. Other noteworthy specs for that new iMac offering comprise an NVMe SSD storage that can hold nearly about 2TB and an unnamed graphic card, BlastingNews reported. Also, it is imperative that the GPU (graphics processing unit) should be equally powerful. Apple has not yet divulged details about the chip they'd be using in the iMac 2017.

Consumer Version Of iMac 2017 to Arrive First

In the bid to probably pave the way, the iMac 2017 consumer variant is likely to make an appearance ahead of the pro model. Multiple sources have been pointing to July and August launch for the said machine. The Pro user version of the iMac 2017 is expected to hit the stores by Q4 of 2017.

Despite being a grade junior, Apple is likely to upgrade the iMac consumer models in order to keep pace with the Microsoft Surface Studio AIO PCs. However, the delayed arrival might have pushed Apple further down the line with the likes of Asustek and HP that are also giving the all-in-one desktop act a shot.

It's worth noting that Apple has warranted renewed commitment towards its desktop iMac, and in line with this, the company's server-grade model has been exclusively designed bearing the demanding creative professional applications in mind.
