Google's New Weather App Is Now On The Play Store

Austin Jay

The December update packed some neat things for Pixel phones and introduced a rival to GPT-4 named Gemini. They also threw in extra features with changes to how the system runs.

A handy thing they put in is a Weather app that's free from the Play Store, made especially for telling you what the weather is like now and will be inside the Clock app already on your phone.

It's important not to mix this Weather app with the weather forecasts Google has updated that you see through the regular Google app or the widget on your home that shows stuff at a glance.

Those forecasts come from a different service inside the Google app itself, but soon, it will get its icon where all your other apps are, too.

As the Weather app got a new look, it allowed forecasts to appear in the Clock. When users set it up or it updated by itself, users could put local weather into the Clock. Once they said it was okay and allowed access, the current conditions came up in the Clock.

It also shows places in different time zones.

Not only that, forecasts found their way into alarms, too. After notices ended, a screen showed how things were and what to expect later in the day. All someone had to do was tap "Okay thanks" to make it leave.

What's more, the weather fits into the World Clock gadget. So, weather news would be right there whenever users looked.

What's New in this App?

This app provides important severe weather notices, keeping the users informed and protected during storms, floods, and crazy weather.

However, it's just on Pixel devices with the December 2023 updates, which makes it a mystery what's next for other Android tech. This special app shows Pixel users a refined layout, tons of data, and critical forecast tracking features.

While it's just on a few phones, Pixel owners can take advantage of its perks, getting it from the Play Store along with the December 2023 updates.

Details highlighted are languages like English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian, working for Android 13 or later versions, and free access.

Pixel users can grab the chance to download this app and check out its improved design and valuable tools, changing how they follow the weather on Pixel phones.

If you've got a Pixel device with the new updates, the Weather app is a must to stay caught up on conditions.

According to some sources, the integrated Weather app within the Clock app and widget didn't go into much detail about the climate. Just pressing on the current conditions wouldn't provide an entire forecast or hourly updates.

Also, it wasn't straightforward to turn it off once it was on.

The Android expert Mishaal Rahman was the first to see Google's Weather app in the beta version of the December updates. Initially, it was only for the Pixel 8 phones, but now every Pixel after the 5a can use it from the latest updates.
