Google's rapid strides in software improvements are evident in its accelerated progress on the upcoming March 2024 Pixel Feature Drop, kicking off a month earlier than last year's timeline.
Google brought out Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 over on Reddit, marking a significant version number change but with minor changes noted in the release notes.
This update, listed as version AP11.231117.006 and packing a December 2023 security patch, is spreading to suitable devices, including the Pixel 5a.
Among the issues fixed in this release are fixes for problems connected to battery use inaccuracies in system settings, a display glitch showing the fingerprint sign too soon in always-on display mode, resolving crashes in the biometric prompt, and correcting a misreporting of Wi-Fi connectivity in the Internet Quick Settings tile.
This Pixel update will auto-install on your device within five days, but you can manually install it via Settings > System > System updates.
To receive the update, you must be enrolled in the beta program, accessible at g.co/androidbeta.
While the Android 14 Beta offers early access to new features, it's crucial to note that these builds are in development so bugs may be encountered.
For a smoother, stable experience, sticking to the official Android 14 release is advised.

The latest Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 update brought some cool new things and changes.
One neat addition was the "Internet" panel, so making QR codes to share Wi-Fi or using Nearby Share to give out network info is accessible. The update also swapped out the "Restricted" battery mode for a "let apps run in the background" toggle, giving two options-Optimized and No Holds Barred-to pick how apps use up battery.
Then, Google put its new Material 3 design style into more of the phone's settings, slowly putting that fresh look in place.
Beta 2 came out almost three weeks after Beta 1.1, which mostly fixed bugs and improved stuff since the first beta version only days before. Also, people who tried Beta 2 saw that December 2023 features for Pixels were added.
This update added Gemini Nano device smarts, camera tricks from AI, and the much-hyped Watch Unlock for Pixels and the Pixel Watch, making those devices better at what they do.
