‘Rainbow Six SMOL’ Mobile Game Unveiled in Netflix and Ubisoft Collaboration
Austin JayThe unexpected announcement of "Rainbow Six SMOL," an exclusive fast-paced rogue-lite shooter modeled by the well-known Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, came from a collaboration between streaming behemoth Netflix and Ubisoft.
The game, which will only be accessible on mobile devices for Netflix users, was revealed live during Six Invitational 2024, the Rainbow Six Siege yearly world championship competition held in São Paulo, Brazil.
"Rainbow Six SMOL" promises to transport players into a whimsical version of the Rainbow Six universe, where they will confront bizarre environments and various enemies, ranging from evil cultists to fluffy puppies and scary demons.
The game's description outlines an engaging experience where players control a Rainbow recruit leading a squad of Operators on missions involving defusing bombs, freeing hostages, and taking down adversaries. Each recruitable Operator boasts unique weapons, passive bonuses, and abilities, empowering players to build a squad tailored to each mission's demands.
The game boasts five distinctive modes and introduces ten factions of enemies with a unique twist - everything in this world is destructible. After completing each mission, "Rainbow Six SMOL" encourages players to spend XP and in-game credits strategically to unlock new weapons and upgrades from the headquarters.
Notably, losing is not recommended, adding an extra layer of challenge and intensity to the gameplay.
"Rainbow Six SMOL" joins Netflix's expansive catalog of over 80 mobile games, enhancing the streaming platform's gaming offerings. Netflix members can indulge in the delightful world of "Rainbow Six SMOL" on iOS and Android devices, with the option to watch the exciting trailer for a sneak peek into the game.

With "Rainbow Six SMOL," Ubisoft's Rainbow Six series takes a surprising turn, offering a vibrant and approachable twist on the conventionally grim tactical shooter genre. Creative director Renaud Forestié, who also introduced a sweetly appealing art style and a top-down viewpoint, highlights the game's dedication to keeping the franchise's essential aspects.
A small Ubisoft team of ten worked on the game's development. From the beginning, Netflix was a key player, helping to shape the game around the subscription service and putting the player's experience ahead of profit.
