JVC has pulled the wraps off its new gadget, the 55-inch JLE55SP4000 3-D HDTV that uses passive 3-D glasses and packs XinemaView 3-D technology.
The new BlackSapphire JLE55SP4000 comes with Wi-Fi to support Internet applications, and has a 120GHz refresh rate. The TV ships with four pairs of battery-free passive 3-D glasses, as well as a remote control with a QWERTY keypad to facilitate accessing applications and typing using the TV.
JVC's new offering supports full HD resolution, and uses edge LED backlit technology for better picture quality and lower power consumption. The TV also boasts a "proprietary audio section that negates the need for an outboard soundbar or other HTIB solution." According to JVC, the sound system has 45W of total speaker output power, including an integrated woofer and support for Xinema Sound 3-D technology.
The technology allows the new BlackSapphire 4000 TV to create a virtual surround sound experience without requiring additional speakers, which is something few other TVs have managed to achieve.
"Designed for performance, XinemaSoundTM 3D by JVC reflects a balance of rich music, accurate special effects, deep bass, and crystal clear dialogue to bring you theater surround experience at the edge of your seat," touts JVC.
The TV also comes pre-loaded with apps for Netflix, YouTube, Vudu, and Pandora, and it uniquely offers the Slingbox Player. This is the first TV that allows users to stream content from a Slingbox in another room, or anywhere else in the world.
When it comes to connection options, the TV comes with two USB ports allowing users to watch home movies, listen to music, or browse through photos, four HDMI inputs, one antenna input, as well as component and composite video inputs.
Despite the 55-inch size, the TV has a thin bezel that measures less than half an inch. Meanwhile, the screen promises to deliver a high-quality contrast ratio of 20,000 to 1 dynamic.
The new BlackSapphire 4000 TV from JVC joins the elite group of TVs which feature a good sound, along with Bose VideoWave and Toshiba's Cell TV, but comes without an exorbitant price tag. JVC's offering is slated to become available in January 2013 from select big-box retailers, sporting a $1299.29 price tag.
