Sony is releasing a new Xperia phone for AT&T customers who wish to carry one of James Bond's gadgets. The Xperia TL, featured in 007's upcoming blockbuster - Skyfall, is hitting AT&T shelves on Nov. 2, and the carrier will sell the device for $99 on a two-year contract.
As a top-notch Android phone, the Xperia TL packs a 4.6-inch display with 1280 X 720 pixels resolution. It runs on Qualcomm's dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The device has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Benefiting from microSD memory card expansion, users can add some extra memory (up to 32GB) to the phone.
Powered by Sony BRAVIA engine, the Xperia TL will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. However, Sony promises a Jelly Bean update eventually.
The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera takes high-resolution photographs at 4128 X 3096 pixels resolution (maximum) and can record 1080p full-HD videos. Thanks to the quick launch feature, Sony Xperia TL can complete the first shot within 1.5 seconds when pulled from standby. The front-facing camera in the device is 1.3 megapixels and can record HD videos in 720p format.
Continuing the James Bond fashion, the device will arrive with exclusive content such as trailers, interviews, behind-the-scene videos, wallpapers, clips, and ringtones from 007's Skyfall movie.
Connectivity features of the device include 4G LTE, Near Field Communication (NFC), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, FM Radio, Assisted GPS with GLONASS support, and microUSB 2.0 port. The Xperia TL can also stream multimedia content to HDTVs with HDMI to MHL support and DLNA sharing.
The NFC-enabled phone comes with a dedicated app named SmartTag, allowing users to quickly share photos, videos, music, and other files with other NFC-enabled device with a single touch.
The Xperia TL will support AT&T's LTE network, which is now available in more than 77 markets. AT&T promises to complete the network upgrade by the end of 2013.
