Rumor has it that Sony is working on two new Xperia devices - the Yuga and the Odin. Per reports, a senior xda-developers forum member "Spectre 51" has disclosed the details of the two Sony smartphones.
The Xperia Yuga and Xperia Odin hopped on to the rumor bandwagon, when leaked specifications and images of the two devices emerged. Earlier in November, a Swiss Web site called Android-Schweiz claimed that it had photos of the Xperia Yuga. The images revealed a glass front and back covering on the device, and disclosed that the smartphone had a non-removable battery.
According to xda-developers forum member Spectre 51, the Sony Xperia Yuga is expected to be the company's flagship smartphone for 2013. The 5-inch Yuga will feature a 1080p display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, and 2GB of RAM. The Xperia Yuga will allegedly come with an Exmor Camera sensor and will have the capacity to record 1080p HDR videos. The Yuga is also said to be water and dust resistant and will pack in a 2400mAh battery.
Spectre 51 also revealed that the Xperia Odin will share some of Yuga's features, including design and CPU. However, the Xperia Odin will have a smaller 2300mAh battery. Details of its screen size are not available.
"Okay got to see some info. The Odin is slightly smaller dimensions but barely. Same CPU. s4 Pro quad core 1.5ghz 2gb ram. Both will have exmor camera sensor and do 1080p hdr video. Only real difference I could see was the battery elements resistance of the yuga and the yuga has something called digital touch that wasn't listed for the odin. Not sure what that is. Yuga will be the flagship. These phones look amazing. So looking forward to them. Yuga is calling my name. Kinda interesting though how similar these two devices are," noted spectre 51.
The forum member also let on that both the devices will be made of glass "front and back (shatter proof film both sides)."
Both the Xperia Yuga and Xperia Odin are anticipated to release in March or April next year. However, it is still unclear which model will make it to the U.S. market.
