The Google Nexus 4 smartphone has met with overwhelming demand and the initial inventory of handset was sold out online just within an hour in the U.S. and the UK. Google revealed the Nexus 4 in only black; however, rumors and a few online retailers' Web sites suggest that the device will soon be made available in white as well.
The Google Play Store still lists both 8GB and 16GB versions of the Nexus 4 as sold out, and smartphone enthusiasts who have already ordered will be eagerly waiting for their smartphone to be delivered.
The Google Play Store officially lists the Nexus 4 in black color only, but an online UK retailer Talk Talk has advertised a bundle offer for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, which reads "Nexus 4 by LG White + Nexus 7 Tablet". Talk Talk indicates that the stock is expected on Dec. 13.
Recently, Carphone Warehouse, a UK smartphone retailer advertised the Nexus 4 in white and black options; however, the image of the white Nexus 4 was not available and now the white option has been removed from the Web site. Previously, a leaked screen shot image of Carphone Warehouse's inventory system also showed the Nexus 4 in white color. Both of these could have been a simple error which the company has made, or a hint that the Nexus 4 will soon make its way in white as well.
Till now there are no leaked pictures of the Nexus 4 in white. However, with other competitors offering their smartphones in various colors, it may not come as a surprise if the Nexus 4 is retailed in white or any other color alternatives.
The rumors and retailer advertisements have been sighted only in the UK, so a distinct possibility exists that the white Nexus 4 will be sold in the UK alone.
With the Nexus 4 packing high-end features at a very competitive price, it will be interesting to see if Google is able to pull the rug underneath its rivals' feet.
