Recently, leaked images of HTC Droid DNA/J Butterfly's international version dubbed the HTC Deluxe (DLX) surfaced on the Internet; and unlike the other two variants which were exclusive to the U.S. and Japan, the DLX was speculated to be heading for Europe. However, now HTC has confirmed that the HTC Deluxe will not be coming to Europe.
A potential German customer, Ingo Hochheim, posted a link of a news story, showing the leaked press renders, to HTC's German Facebook fan page.
HTC responded to the Facebook post and said that "the Deluxe unfortunately will not come to Europe." (translated)
The million dollar question is so where is the HTC Deluxe headed to if not Europe? Before potential buyers get disappointed a glimmer of hope exists. It is possible that this device could be headed for a different market and Europe would get the smartphone with a completely different name at a later date.
It is uncommon for a company to make an outright denial, as they usually choose to stay mum or aver that they do not comment on rumors and speculations. The response from HTC could be an indication that the handset will not be called Deluxe.
The HTC Deluxe is expected to sport the same features as the Droid DNA and J Butterfly, which means that it will have a 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display (1920 x 1080 pixels resolution) and 441 pixels per inch (ppi). Like the Droid DNA and J Butterfly, it will likely have a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU with Qualcomm MDM615m/APQ8064 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of on-board storage, and Android 4.1 Jelly bean.
The leaked images revealed that the Droid Deluxe will be available in three colors: black, brown, and white. The device is expected to be announced on Dec. 6, so consumers will soon know where it is headed and under what name.
