HTC and Android fans first heard about the upcoming HTC One VX on AT&T back in October, and while the smartphone was expected to arrive in November, the HTC-based smartphone never really surfaced. Now, per reports, it has been stated that following all the delays, the One VX could arrive in December, more specifically Dec. 7.
The newest offering from HTC has been in news for quite some time now. The carrier, AT&T, first announced the phone alongside the One X+ in early October. Later, in early November, it was confirmed that both HTC models would be going up for sale on Nov.16.
However, while the prediction turned out to be true for One X+, the HTC One VX eventually did not surface. Even though AT&T has successfully managed to withhold any real information on the device, new reports from the carrier's spokesperson has shed some light on the device’s potential arrival along with a real retail launch date.
Per reports, the AT&T spokesperson has let on that the One VX will be available through both online sales and in the carrier’s retail stores from Dec7. The alleged new launch date may turn out to be the finalized release date for smartphone, but some doubts still exist if the new date will turn out to be similar to the previous Nov. 16 plans, when the smartphone was initially expected to arrive.
It is possible that the delay in the arrival of the device was a strategic move on the part of the company, so that the carrier could give prominence to other models before the holiday shopping season rush. Alternately, it could be an availability issue.
However, to add more solidity to the newly revealed launch date, an unnamed AT&T spokesperson told Android Central that the carrier "expects to be fully stocked in all channels by Dec. 7."
The 4.5-inch HTC One VX features a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor (which is not really great compared to other smartphones in the market), 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, LTE support, and 8 GB of internal storage memory.
While the smartphone will arrive with pre-installed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it is expected that the One VX will get the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the near future.
