The Taiwanese phone maker HTC released its flagship smartphone in May this year and just within six months the successor HTC One X+ has been revealed. The HTC One X+ is a modest upgrade from the original One X with many features unchanged.
Here are some of the key differences between the HTC One X and the One X+.
Form Factor
Both the successor and the predecessor measures the same at 5.29 x 2.75 x 0.35 inches. However, at 4.79 ounces the HTC One X+ is slightly heavier than the One X which weighs 4.59 ounces.
Processor
The One X+ has a quad-core Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The international version of the One X sported a 1.5GHz Tegra 3 processor, but the US version had a dual-core chip.
With the One X+, both the U.S. and international customers get a faster quad-core action enabling speedy usage.
Storage
HTC One X has 32GB of internal storage. The company has doubled the storage in the HTC One X+ to 64GB, which means that users can now save more music, videos, and files on their handsets.
Battery and Connectivity
The battery of the HTC One X+ has been upgraded from 1800mAh to 2100mAh giving more usage time to its owners.
The One X supported LTE only in the U.S., but with the One X+ the company can finally combine the faster NVIDIA quad-core chip with "true 4G." However, several global customers will only get access to the non-LTE version of the One X+.
Camera
Both the One X and One X+ sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. However, the One X+ is equipped with a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera which is an improvent on the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera of the One X.
Operating System
The newer One X+ comes pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the older One X comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box; however, the Jelly Bean update has started to make its way to the HTC One X.
The One X includes HTC Sense UI which has been upgraded to the Sense 4+ UI in the One X+ which features Self Portrait mode, the ability to use the power button as a camera shortcut, and an enhanced Gallery.
The One X+ is not a big overhaul over its predecessor. Apart from the storage and processor the HTC One X+ gets modest upgrade.
We will have to wait and see if the HTC One X+ can sustain itself in the highly competitive smartphone arena in the long run.
